EVENTVWR SCAMS

The EVENTVWR SCAM : What is it?

This is a quick warning about  a new scam called eventvwr scam. You are wondering what the hell is this name and how the hell should you read it?Well I must admit you are quite right!IIn fact, this  scam is just one of the so numerous phone call scams on the Net.And if you are unfamiliar with the calling,I can understand,it is a new type of scam;so let’s stop turning around and give you a clear understanding of what this scam really is about. So what is an eventvwr scam ?
At first, the name of this scam comes from a Microsoft Windows O.S program named eventvwr (Abbreviation for “Event Viewer”).Event viewer is,according to Microsoft, “a tool that displays detailed information about significant events (for example, programs that don't start as expected or updates that are downloaded automatically) on your computer. Event Viewer can be helpful when troubleshooting problems and errors with Windows and other programs. For more information about Event Viewer, see What information appears in event logs (Event Viewer)?”.Thus you can understand that the scam has something to do with the so-called Windows program. The procedure is very simple:
You get a call from an individual who claims to be a Microsoft Technical Support Team Member, then starts off the conversation saying that he is calling because “you’ve unknowingly downloaded a malicious software”;he then urges you to get on your computer in order for him to show you where the malware is located so that he can “help” fix the problem.Once you get on a computer, you are ordered to carefully listen to the instructions for the location of the so-called malware and for the fixing:
After asking you what O.S you are running, you will, further more,be asked to do the following operations :
1.      “CTRL + R” (to bring up the “run window”)
2.      “Enter eventvwr in the run box”
You cannot view this image because your browser does not support images
3.      “Click ok!”
And the scam  has begun!
Thus,by revealing about the eventvwr scam,we hope to to be able to warn people of the danger, for they can get ready to react, not only against a probable eventvwr scam but also against phone calls scams in general.
